Michael Bosco has broad experience in structuring and executing M&A, corporate finance and private equity transactions and acting on cross-border dispute resolution and insolvency matters. During his nearly 30 years as an international lawyer, Michael has advised on numerous complex and innovative acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, IPOs, foreign direct investment transactions, privatisations and high-yield and leveraged financings, including various market firsts.

Michael has been repeatedly cited in Chambers Global Guide to the World’s Leading Lawyers for Business, the International Financial Law Review’s Guide to the World’s Leading Capital Markets Lawyers and Best Lawyers in Italy, among other legal directories. Chambers has also recognised him as a leading foreign lawyer in Libya.

Michael began his career at Shearman & Sterling in New York in 1992 and became a partner in 2001. Michael founded the firm’s Rome and Milan offices and served as Managing Partner for Italy from 2001 to 2012, growing the practice from 2 to 32 lawyers during his tenure.

In 2012, Michael moved to DLA Piper as Head of US Practice for Southern Europe and MENA. From 2019 to 2020, Michael was a partner at Dentons. Before joining Itkan, Michael founded and operated Bosco & Associates, an independent boutique law and strategic consulting firm based in Rome, focused on cross-border investment transactions.

From 2012 to 2013, Michael served as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority on a secondment basis, dividing his time among Rome, London and Tripoli and advising LIA on numerous high-profile asset recovery and investment-related matters around the world.
Michael is a frequent public speaker and author of numerous articles and commentaries on corporate law issues. He speaks fluent English, Italian and Spanish.
